This mobile hostess stand was crafted for Stella San Jac restaurant, located at the corner of San Jacinto and East 5th in Austin, TX. Stella San Jac is the lobby restaurant at The Westin Austin Downtown. A forged ‘S’ representing the Stella log -- along with a plant pocket complimenting a succulent wall in the hotel lobby -- clearly identifies the hostess stand with the restaurant. The stained mahogany wood panels are by ever-so-talented Mike Drejza of Drejza Design. Using wood, rather than metal, ensures the top surfaces stay cool to the touch in the Texas sun.
The hostess stand easily moves to the outdoor serving area or to the restaurant lobby entrance on casters from All States Casters. They’ll set you up with the proper product for the job, and you can bet I’ll patronize this helpful establishment again. The raw materials used in this project were angle iron, 16-gauge sheet, tubing, expanded metal, round rod, wood, and casters. The ‘S’, forged from 3/8" round bar, was designed to ‘float’ off of the front wood panel, providing depth and visual interest. The expanded metal and tubing interior of the stand accommodates various sized menus and a bus tub. Final measurements are 48” tall x 18” wide x 24.5” deep. Comments are closed.
