This screen was made for a rental house we were living in last year. We gifted it to the house because it was custom made to fit that fireplace. While taking measurements, we discovered the stonework around the firebox wasn’t level; perhaps you can see the firebox is taller on the left side than the right.
But not to worry, we built the screen to mirror the wonkiness, and the end result is that the eye is tricked and doesn’t notice. You would sure notice something askew, however, if we had made the screen level. And that, my friends, is the value in getting a custom piece! As my design consultant on this project, Reed came up with the random squares/rectangle pattern. I love its simplicity, yet it makes quite a statement. If you’re in the market for a fireplace screen, consider having one custom made to your exact size and style. I’ll make it as crooked or as straight as you like! |
