A while ago I lit my oxy-fuel torch and started bending some rods. Perhaps a flower form was taking shape. Lunch time came around, and I put the piece away.
Fast forward a few months, and I pulled the piece out of the bin. I’m certain I wasn’t creating a bird form that long-ago day. But when I looked at the piece from a different perspective, it sure looked like a bird form now.
I continued sculpting with that revelation. I added details here and there, including the ‘festive’ bow (or feather?) on the bird’s head. There’s lots of movement in this piece. ‘Festive Bird’ measures 11” x 11” x 5”.
